Sykesville, MD, 12:30 P.M., Thursday, April 16, 2020 – The Carroll County Bureau of Utilities has identified a water main break in the 7300 block of Springfield Avenue and is in the process of determining the best repair approach for this problem. County staff are isolating the service area in the immediate vicinity of the break and system users may experience fluctuation of water pressure during the afternoon and evening hours.

It is anticipated that water service will return to normal operating conditions by this evening. When service does return, users will likely experience cloudy water and air in the system. To remedy this, it is recommended that cold water taps be turned on and that the water be run for several minutes to clear the lines. It is also advised that users refrain from using high water volume appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, etc., during periods of cloudy water or low pressure.

If you have any questions regarding this water main break, please call the Bureau of Utilities office at 410-386-2164 for additional information.
